Our first play date
The child came over this afternoon and spent about 4 hours with us. We ran a few errands and then came home to play. He kept calling things "our" and "my". It was "my" room and "our" dog. It was cool. And scary. He seemed very happy. He and Michael had some very deep Lego discussions and they made all kinds of things out of Legos and Lincoln Logs. He was a little hesitant around the animals, but they will get used to each other. We went next door and let him play with our neighbor who is 2 years older than him. We had dinner and then took him back to his guardian's house. Overall it was a VERY nice evening.

I'm so glad things well. I know you were worried, but I'm sure you now know that 6-year-olds are awesome! There's no real need to worry about what you'll do or how you'll relate to him. Children (and particularly kids this age) just want love and attention, someone to play with, someone to cheer them on, someone to pick them up when they're down. And I have to tell you, there's no better job than that!
I pray that God continues to open doors for you, and that all plays out in the best interest of this child.
